clearSkies Scheme objectives:

Scope of the clearSkies Scheme

The clearSkies Scheme certifies solid fuel local space heaters and solid fuel local space heater boilers that meet net efficiency and carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen oxides (NOx), organic gaseous compounds (OGC) and particulate matter (PM) emissions criteria. Independent test results of a product from an approved laboratory allows its producer to apply for a clearSkies Mark licence to use the clearSkies Mark on the certified appliance. Manufacturers self-certify to clearSkies that they comply with all other aspects of Ecodesign and UK CA mark compliance.

The scope of the clearSkies Scheme includes both solid fuel local space heaters (used to provide heat to spaces and people and objects within a space by convection and radiation) AND solid fuel local space heater boilers (used to provide heat to spaces and people and objects within a space by convection and radiation and to heat water for space heating or sanitary uses provided that the direct heat output is at least 6% of the combined direct and indirect heat output at nominal heat output).

Any manufacturer who sells products in the UK can apply to have its products certified under the Scheme.
